The 7th Annual convention of World Owerri People's Congress was held in Dallas, Texas on July 17 - 20  2008.  The  theme of convention:

“Time To Uplift & To Strengthen the Unity Of The Congress”
 

The following Dignitaries were present at the Event:

Honorable Senator Eze Ajoku -  Former Senator, Owerri  Zone, was the Keynote speaker. In his speech, the former Senator called on Owerre people to hold strong and believe in God considering the constant denial of justice to nde Owerre. And that Nde Owerri lacks true political mentors.  The lack of sincere leadership class among Nde Owerri had caused severe hindrance in the demand for justice and equity. The collective and united spirit among Nde Owerri which are lacking should be encouraged; otherwise, the spirit of "If not me, it cannot be my brother" will remain dominance in our struggle.

Chief. Martin Agbaso - 2007, Imo State Gubernatorial Candidate, gave a special address to the Owerre people. In his speech, the Ochiudo of Owerre thanked all the Owerre people for their support during his gubernatorial race.  Chief Agbaso reminded Owerre people that it would only take an Owerre man to initiate developments such as dredging of nwaorie and otamiri rivers for commercial purposes. He encouraged Nde Owerri to always strive for the best; and to remain steadfast in the pursuit of our course for ourselves and for our children.

Sir Godwin Osuji, Dozie/Mezie Owerre representative. In his speech, Sir Osuji informed nde Owerre of the need to re-invent good governance in Imo-State. He lamented on the problems of marginalization, youth unemployment and armed robbery in Owerri. 

Eze Emmanuel Sonde Okoro-Eze, the Omenyi II of Emii. In  his speech, the Royal Highness, re-iterated to the Owerre people, the need to embrace unity and progress in all our endeavors as a way to move forward.
